How long does it take?

The actual Colon Hydrotherapy session is 30 to 35 minutes long so as to achieve an effective cleanse without causing electrolyte imbalance. However, the total visit is one hour long. Please allow longer for your first treatment as you do need to complete a medical history form.

Does it hurt?

No the experience is actually quite relaxing. You may feel some cramping during the treatment and this is generally an indication of an imminent release.

How many colonic sessions does one need?

Often the waste is so hard and well-lodged in the colon that it may take a series of colonics to sufficiently soften and loosen it. The number of treatments will always vary with the individual and his/her condition. It is recommended that a series of 3 to 6 sessions be given to start. The number is affected by how a person responds to the first few sessions. Age, previous dietary and exercise patterns, activities, and emotional state are all factors. Someone coming in for a regular preventive maintenance would obviously need far fewer sessions than someone with severe gastrointestinal problems.

What should I eat before a Colonic?

It is best to just eat light meals before having your colonic. No fasting is required. Keeping extra hydrated a few days prior is really important.

Will this treatment upset the Gut Flora balance?

If your colon is toxic, then you have little good bacteria to start with. The majority of people, due to improper lifestyle, have toxic colons, and thus little good bacteria. By ridding your bowel of accumulated matter and disease causing toxins, you are in fact removing the environment in which the unfriendly bacteria breed. This provides a habitat for the good bacteria to thrive and you reap the health benefits.

How will I feel after the session?

Most people feel physically lighter and refreshed with greater mental clarity and a sense of well-being. Many people feel an improvement in symptoms such as bloating, tiredness, indigestion etc. and feel their abdomen is more comfortable. Some people feel relieved and can sleep better thanks to the detoxifying effects of the treatment. Some may feel fatigued or crampy after the session. This is usually dependent upon the levels of toxicity in the body due to lifestyle and medications. Generally this feeling lasts just an hour or two.

After your first treatment you can resume your normal activities or allow yourself time to relax. You should plan for your next meal to be nourishing and light (such as soup, salad, veggies, chicken, fish, fruit etc.) rather than heavy or rich as you will still be detoxing.

Can I become dependent on Colon Hydrotherapy?

No. On the contrary, Colon Hydrotherapy helps “exercise” the colon muscles by providing resistance against the colon walls, much like the resistance needed to build muscles during exercise. This stimulates natural peristalsis, allowing the colon to become stronger and work better on its own.
